The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification is a widely recognized credential offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) that demonstrates an individual's expertise in agile practices in project management. The PMI-ACP covers a broad range of agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, extreme programming (XP), and test-driven development (TDD). It is designed for project managers who use agile approaches in their projects and want to show their employers and peers their level of professionalism in agile practices of project management.
Exam Overview
Format and Duration:
- The PMI-ACP exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions.
- Out of these, 100 questions are scored and 20 are pretest questions that do not affect the exam score.
- Candidates have 3 hours to complete the exam.
Eligibility Requirements: To apply for the PMI-ACP, individuals must meet certain educational and professional experience requirements:
- A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent).
- 2,000 hours of general project experience working on teams. This requirement is waived if the applicant holds a PMP (Project Management Professional) or PgMP (Program Management Professional) certification.
- 1,500 hours working on agile project teams or with agile methodologies. This requirement is in addition to the 2,000 hours of general project experience.
- 21 contact hours of training in agile practices.
